PEOPLES UNIVERSITY, SCHOLARSHIP POLICY, GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES
Introduction
Scholarship is a financial assistance given to a student to pursue his/ her studies. It may be given by the government philanthropic trust organizations or individuals. The purpose of any scholarship is to fund a student’s education fully or partly and /or take care of the students other living expenses during the course of his/ her study.
Usually scholarships are given to encourage students from SC/ST Minority and Other Backward Classes. Person With Disabilities, children of armed forces personnel and students from financially weaker section of the society.
The concept of scholarship schemes aims to provide a level playing field to all students – rich and poor, normal and disabled, men and women forward and backward etc.
The government provides many types of scholarships People’s University has also been giving the Chancellor’s Scholarship to the selected needy students on the basis of merit or economic backwardness.
Aim
The purpose of this policy is to facilitate the implementation of Trust, University, central and state government scholarships schemes for the benefit of eligible students.
Scope
- The scholarships are awarded to meritorious students, girls students, financially weaker section of the society on the basis of the results of Senior Secondary Examination. Scholarships are awarded for pursuing graduate / postgraduate studies in colleges and universities and for professional courses.
- The Scholarship covers all courses and Constitute Institutions of Peoples University, Bhopal.
- SJPN the sponsoring body of PU and Peoples University, Bhopal also grant scholarship to needy and meritorious students.
- SC/ST/OBC/PWD & Minority students who secure admission in these Institutes are also awarded scholarships. The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course tenure, subject to satisfactory performance.
Objectives:
- To provide financial assistance to Needy and meritorious students from low income families to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies.
- To explore the various scholarship schemes of Central and State Government for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/MMVY/MMJKY & Minorities and economically backward students.
- To spread the awareness of such schemes among the eligible students of different categories.
- To facilitate students to apply for the scholarship for which they are eligible by clearly explaining the eligibility conditions.
- Helping the students to submit the online application for award of scholarship.
- To conduct training program on scholarship procedures for scholarship departments of Constituent Units of Peoples University.
- To ensure that the various constituent units of the Peoples University complete the process of submission of the scholarship forms online/offline as required within the stipulated date.
- To follow up with the concerned Nodal Officer / Government departments for acceptance and speedy processing of the scholarship applications.
- To ensure that the sanctioned scholarship amount is properly distributed to the applicants.
- To ensure that the scholarship is sanctioned as early as possible by regular follow up with the sanctioning authorities.
- To ensure that all records are maintained in the scholarship departments of the constituent units.
- To maintain a record of all scholarship details for the University.
Reservation Policy
Students belonging to reserved categories/weaker sections /minorities are eligible on the basis of merit, subject to Central Reservation Policy and internal earmarking. Reservations for the various categories are as follows:
Scheduled Castes (SCs) 15%, Scheduled Tribes (STs) 7.5%, Other Backward Classes (OBCs) 27% and horizontally 5% for Physically Handicapped / Persons(s) with Disabilities (PwDs) in all the categories.
Duration: Tenure of Scholarship
- The duration of the course varies as per the course selected by the candidates. The Scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance.
- In case of students who cannot complete the course in due time, provision for extension of scholarships as per the norm of course may be made only for admissible tuition fee subject to report in this regard being given by Principal/Dean of College/Institution.
Types of Scholarship
Following types of scholarships are available for students. These are:
(A) Chancellor’s scholarship/Financial Assistance by Peoples University:
The Chancellor’s Scholarship of People’s University is given to the following categories of students.
- Students of financially weaker section of society.
- Girl students.
- Meritorious students.
- Any other student at the discretion of the Chancellor.
(B) Central Govt. Scholarship:
The following scholarships scheme are offered by the Central Govt.
- Merit Cum Means (Minority)Scholarship For Professional and Technical Courses. (Anx-1)
- Central Sector Scholarship Scheme. (Anx-2)
- Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme For Central Armed Police Forces, Assam Rifles Ministry of Home Affairs & RPF. (Anx-3)
- ISHAN UDAY Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region. (Anx-4)
- Scholarship for the Differently- Abled Students (PWD). (Anx-5)
(B) State Govt. scholarship:
The M.P. State Govt. offers the following scholarship Schemes:
- Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) for SC / ST & OBC Students. (Anx-6)
- Mukhya Mantree Medhavi Vidhyarthib Yojna. (Anx-7)
Income Ceiling:
Scholarships will be paid to the students whose parents/guardians’ income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 3,00,000/- per annum for SC category, Rs. 6,00,000/- per annum for ST category, Rs. 3,00,000/- per annum for OBC category, Rs. 6,00,000/- per annum for CSSS category & Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum for Minority category.
Procedure – How and when to apply:
- Student registration on scholarship portal
- Student must keep scan copy of 10th , 12th Diploma UG PG…. MP-Domicile, Income, Cast,
- Upload all required documents on portal through student log-in
- Bank account detail must enter and check very carefully.
- The bank account is a saving account in any nationalized bank (don’t use kiosk bank account)
- Bank account must be link with your AADHAR no.
- Enrollment no can be collect from department only
- Apply scholarship application form through Institute code & course code.
- Submit scholarship application form to Faculty Scholarship I/c in the department.
- Mode of admission is direct
- Date of admission
- Cast certificate Must be issued by SDM only
- Gap certificate – affidavit on Rs 100/- stamp paper and original
- In case of duplicate TC Police FIR copy must be enclosed.
- Income Certificate :
- Father
- Mother – with divorce / death certificate of Father
- Husband with Marriage certified
- OBC – income limit is Rs 0 to 75000/- per year (more than Rs 75000/- no scholarship)
- SC / ST income limit
- 0 to Rs 2,50,000/- per year – 100 % scholarship
- Rs 250000/- to 6,00,000 – 50% scholarship
- More than Rs 3,00,000 – No scholarship
(Income certificate must issued by Tehsildar, For Government employee pay slip must enclosed, for private job employer salary certificate on letter paid with seal & sign.
Required Documents for Scholarship
- Domicile Certificate.
- Student Photograph.
- Institute verification form/Bonafide certificate.
- Income certificate by competent authority (Tehsildar/Executive Magistrate/District Magistrate/ Revenue Officer etc.). Please Note that for first year self-certified income certificates (i.e. not signed by a competent authority) will not be accepted.
- Caste certificate by competent authority (Tehsildar/Executive Magistrate/District Magistrate/ Revenue Officer etc.)
- Certificate of previous academic Marksheet attested by Institute.
- Fee Receipt of current course year.
- Proof of bank account in the name of student.
