Department Of Gen. Medicine

(a) Our department has 7 Professors, 1 Associate Professors and 2 Assistant Professors (Total 10) as PG teachers, out of which 1 Professor who is also the HOD is DM (Gastro.) have been giving presentations at state and national level conferences & CMEs. 1 Assistant Professor has done DM (Neurology), 1 Assistant Professor has done DM (Cardiology) and 1 Assistant Professor has done Fellowship in Rheumatology. They all are running the specialty clinics along with General Medicine. Since we have a large no. of skilled specialist and PG teachers.
(b) We have sufficiently large infrastructure as basic requirement along with a wide variety of patients for clinical exposure of post graduates. Our department has sufficient equipments to provide adequate training to postgraduates in the department e.g. Heamo-dialysis, Upper G.I. Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, Ventilators, Echocardiography with Colour Doppler, TMT, ABG analyzer and Multipara Monitoring gadgets. We are already running special clinics in Gastroenterology, Neurology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, and Rheumatology.
(c) Our postgraduate teaching is now streamlined with regular PG teaching / learning activities including case presentations, seminars, death reviews, group di cussions, journal clubs, along with presentations by the faculty of department and interdepartmental teaching learning activities. We had already done a big exercise for preparing documents for PG students – statement of competencies for PG students, Curriculum design in terms of competencies, PG training program, Log-book, and list of reading material.
(d) Our department is also active in doing scholarship activities. During the last 3 years, our department has come out with 23 publications in indexed national and international journals. All these publications have been from research activities and cases seen by us on day to day basis in the wards. There are also contribution of 2 chapters in books – Humanities in Medical Education and Medicine update – 2020, Association of Physicians India by two of our senior faculty.
(e) Many of our faculties have undergone training in “Medical Education Technology” conducted by Medical Education unit (MEU) of our institute and we are trying to practice the skills learned. One of our Professors has also undergone teachers’ training at NTTC, JIPMER Pudduchery, FAIMER Fellowship at CMCL- FAIMER Regional Institute, Ludhiana, a 2 years Faculty development program and 1 year advance course fellowship in medical education (ACME) from MCI Nodal Centre for Faculty Development, Pramukhswami Medical College, Karamsad, Gujarat. He is also Coordinator, Curriculum committee and an active member of MEU; he has been instrumental in implementing CBME curriculum for MBBS students. He has been working as a facilitator for Faculty Development Programs in the workshops / training programmes conducted by MEU, within our institute as well as at national level. He is also serving as a faculty for FAIMER Fellowship at CMCL – FAIMER Regional Institute, Ludhiana for last 5 years.
(f) Our PGs actively participate in CMEs, conference and workshops at State, National and International level – and present papers and posters. Six PGs have also won prizes in poster presentations, Seven PGs have also won prizes in oral presentations and one PG has also won prize in Quiz participation.
(g) We have been doing Innovations in UG and PG teaching also by conducting research projects in medical education. We have also published our work in indexed journals.
(h) Our PGs have actively participated in managing patients during the COVID-19 pandemic and they have been the frontline warriors by attending the sick and seriously ill persons round the clock under the guidance and supervision of senior faculty.
