Theory Aims:
- Understand the evolution of mental health nursing and its significance within the healthcare system.
- Identify and classify various mental disorders to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Grasp the foundational principles and concepts integral to mental health nursing practice.
- Apply the standards set by the Indian Nursing Council for psychiatric mental health nursing in clinical settings.

Clinical Aims:

- Provide counselling and education to patients and their families regarding mental health issues and available treatment options.
- Conduct individual and group psychoeducation sessions to enhance understanding and coping skills among patients.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with mental health problems or disorders, addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Encourage and support patients in the community to seek early treatment and adhere to follow-up appointments for continuity of care.
Observe and actively participate in the assessment and care of patients with substance abuse disorders in specialized settings, focusing on rehabilitation and relapse prevention strategies.
