**Esteemed Dentist Dr. Sandesh Mayekar Honored at Bhopal Dental Program**
Renowned dentist Dr. Sandesh Mayekar was honored in a prestigious event held at the peoples College OF dental sciences and research centre. The program commenced with the traditional Saraswati Vandana and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, setting a pious tone for the day’s proceedings.
Dr. Sandesh Mayekar was felicitated for his exceptional contributions to the field of dentistry, with a floral offering presented by the respected Dean, Dr. Parimala Kulkarni. Dr. Kulkarni also delivered the welcome address, highlighting Dr. Mayekar’s remarkable achievements and his influence in advancing dental practices.
The highlight of the event was Dr. Mayekar’s insightful lecture on the importance of functional smile design. He explained how a well-designed smile not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also plays a crucial role in oral health and overall well-being.
The program saw the participation of 100 faculty members, undergraduate, and postgraduate students from all Peoples dental college and people’s dental academy in Bhopal. Following the lecture, 30 participants engaged in a hands-on session, gaining practical experience and personalized guidance from Dr. Mayekar.
The event was a resounding success, fostering a deeper understanding of advanced dental practices and inspiring the next generation of dental professionals .

People’s College of Dental Sciences & Research Centre conducted a workshop on “Heartfullness, meditation, rejuvenation and connection to inner-self” from 25-27 april 2024. The speakers were from “Heartfullness organization”. Dean of PCDS Dr Parimala Kulkarni felicitated the speakers on this occasion. The team from heartfulness organization guided the students on benefits of meditation in order to prevent mental distress and to maintain their composure in all situations hence preparing them to face the world better.

National Oral Medicine And Radiology Day was celebrated by Department Of Oral Medicine And Radiology on 24th April 2024 in People’s College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal. The theme for this year was Revolutionizing Smiles- Innovate, Illuminate, Radiate. A Guest lecture was on ‘Raising conscientiousness of a dentist through enhanced medical knowledge’ was delivered by Padmashri Dr. Gyaan Chaturvedi. The event was commenced by the lamp lighting ceremony followed by showcasing of reels by interns.

Held on 26th February 2024, it was marked by the presence of Dean Ma’am, Faculties and Students. Banners were unfolded by Honorable Dean Ma’am Dr. Parmila Kulkarni, which was followed by Tug of War, Rangoli Making, Caricature Art & Salad Art.
Winners for Rangoli Making were Ishita Jain, Harita & Garima (Interns).
Winners for Caricature Art were Bidushi Mishra & For Salad Art were Luvleen Singh & Maitri Thakur.
Soon after Inaugration of cultural events, Sports Fest was also inaugurated by Dean Ma’am Dr. Parmila Kulkarni.

Wednesday, 4 October 2023, An orientation program was organised to orient the new batch of 2023, PCDS, at Large Auditorium, People’s University, Bhopal. The program was attended by the students of new batch & their parents and the faculty of PCDS. The program began with Saraswati Vandana & lighting of lamp. Followed by address of Dean, PCDS, Dr.Parimala Kulkarni, she welcomed the gathering and gave an introduction about college & the values practised.
Vice Dean, PCDS, Dr. Swapnil Parlani, explained about the academic & administration structure of the college. Dr Shiv Kumar, Head anti ragging committee explained the working of committee & shared contact details of all members of committee. Dr Sahana K, Head, Women redressal cell, gave details of the issues that can be taken to the same & gave the contact details of the members of the cell. NCC was introduced to the students by Major. Ram. All the HOD’s of the various Dental & Medical Departments, Librarian and Hostel warden were introduced to the parents of new batch. Queries of students and parents were also sorted out during the program. BDS II year students took active part in putting some dance & song sequences in between the program. The program ended with vote of thanks

CDE PROGRAMME ORGANISED BY DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHODONTICS CROWN AND BRIDGE ON “ALL-ON-4 “CONCEPTS AND BEYOND.
A two-day CDE program on “All-on-4” was conducted on 10th and 11th April 2023 at People’s College of Dental Science & Research Centre, Bhopal. Dr. Hemant gupta and Dr. Swati gupta were the guest speakers from Lucknow who elaborated the audience on the topic of implantology “All on 4” CONCEPTS AND BEYOND. Delegates from all over Madhya Pradesh and other states also participated. The workshop consisted of lectures, demonstration and live surgery by Dr. Hemant and Dr. Swati gupta on patient. In the live surgery 4 screws were inserted in patients mouth and the patient received the fixed denture on the same day. The delegates also got a chance to do hands on dummy models. Dr. Parimala Kulkarni Dean of PCDS & RC and Dr. Neerja malik (registrar, people’s university) graced the occasion. The entire program was coordinated with the support of Dr. Swapnil Parlani Head of department of Prosthodontics and her team.

The much awaited Convocation Ceremony 2022 for batch 2016-17 held on 4th May 2022, with Chief Guest Shri Vishwas Sarangji, Minister Medical Education MP Government and Guest of Honor Dr Sandesh Maykar, celebrity dentist and ex DCI member. The ceremony was graced by the Mr Rohit Pandit, Director, People’s Group, Dr Neerja Mallick, Registrar, People’s University and Dr Harish Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor, People’s University.
The Event was attended by the staff and students of PCDS with passing out graduates and their parents.
The programme was facilitated by Dean, Dr Parimala Kulkarni and Vice Dean, Dr Swapnil Parlani alongwith PCDS Convocation Committee.

Continuing the Dental Education programme on Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) “The way ahead in Radiology seeing the unseen”, a state level CDE programme was organised by the department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, PCDS&RC at the People’s Auditorium on 26th November 2021 with 2 guest speakers, Dr. Ajay Parihar, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Government Dental College, Indore, and Dr. G.S.Rai, Professor and Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, People’s College of Medical Sciences, Bhopal.
Dr. Ajay Parihar gave a lecture on various applications of CBCT in dental practice and also discussed some interesting cases of CBCT. He gave an insight into the interlinking of clinical diagnosis with the help of advanced diagnostic imaging like CBCT.
Dr. G S Rai delivered the 2nd lecture in which highlighted the importance of CT imaging in head and neck pathologies. He also discussed various interesting cases like odontomas, bony pathologies of the jaws while emphasising the different modalities related to head and neck region.
Also there was a hands-on demonstration of CBCT software use by Dr.Ajay Parihaar.
The programme had a good attendance of more than 130 participants with faculty and students from different parts of Madhya Pradesh and other colleges of Bhopal.

A free dental check up and treatment camp on 20 April 2017:
A free dental check-up and treatment camp was conducted in the Department of Public Health Dentistry, People’s College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre, Bhopal for the Anganwadi workers of JP Nagar centre, Bhopal.
All the Anganwadi workers were brought to the Department of Public Health Dentistry and screened for the presence of any oral diseases. Preliminary treatment was provided immediately for those who required. Health education on common oral diseases was given by the postgraduate students of the department. About 50 workers benefited from this program. The entire program was conducted under the support and guidance of Dr Shaji Thomas, Dean PCDS and RC, Dr Ajay Bhambal, HOD, Dept of Public Health Dentistry, PCDS and RC, Bhopal.

About the speaker: Prof. Dr. Porus S. Turner is Professor of Postgraduate studies in the Dept. of Prosthodontics at A. B. Shetty Institute of Dental Studies, Mangalore, India. He is the founder member and past president of the Indian Academy of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry. He has 26 original publications in national and international journals to his credit and has contributed to two books on dentistry. Dr. Turner is a fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International.
